The other night I finally got around to watching a movie about Ireland’s past: The Wind That Shakes The Barley. It deals with the fight for independence against Britain and the ensuing civil war in Ireland around 1919-1923. More

“Thought is real; it’s physical that is the illusion”

The title is a line from the beautiful movie, What Dreams May Come. The movie explores what happens after we die and how our spirits reconnect with where we come from.

Our souls are from a higher dimension. We come here to learn; in order to do this we need to experience a different level of existence. One in which we don’t know the outcome, one in which we struggle, we are tested for patience, strength, faith, endurance, hope, character. We are shut off from our soul’s true existence. In this true existence, the fullest expression of ourselves, there is no physicality. Everything is energy and thought. Spirits communicate telepathically. Our whole being is emotion and thought. More

An explanation…

To begin, an explanation of the blog title is in order. It is a paraphrase of Chris McCandless’ line, “to call each thing by its right name”. Who is Chris McCandless? Well, the book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, and indeed the movie of the same name (directed by Sean Penn and starring Emile Hirsch) – both of which I highly recommend – will certainly explain that in far more detail than I can here. Suffice to say that Chris McCandless was a young man who rejected all that is esteemed by society: wealth, community, security, and chose to abandon his possessions and loved ones to embark upon a journey of self-discovery. Questionable methods, but admirable motives. Who hasn’t longed for a life free of restraints and responsibilities, instead focused on figuring out who you truly are, having new experiences, appreciating the beauty of this planet? One of the objectives that Chris discovered, and subsequently employed, on his journey was to “call each thing by its real name.” More
